The reform of higher education within the European Union makes inherent demands in terms of teaching quality. This teaching quality requirement is absolutely necessary to promote, in the spirit of the Bologna Process, the mobility of students and teaching staff in exchange projects.
It is important to officially validate respect for it and the correct application of the principles of the European Higher Education Framework by universities or colleges. Formal recognition makes it possible to easily identify those institutions that conform to the reference framework and are thus considered reliable partners in the context of cooperation agreements.
As part of this permanent effort to improve and implement the Bologna Process, the RMA received a visit for the first time in 2009 from an accreditation commission for its undergraduate and graduate courses. As per the six-year period specified by CTI, the current accreditation is valid from September 1, 2021 to September 30, 2027.
Applying the Codex Higher Education, in particular article 11.149, the NVAO decided to grant accreditation to the bachelor and master programmes in engineering sciences, and bachelor and master programmes in social and military sciences organised by the Royal Military Academy. These programmes are offered in Brussels without graduation courses.
Thanks to this accreditation, diplomas from the RMA's Polytechnic programme now carry the EUR-ACE (European Accreditation of Engineering Programs) label.
