The XR Lab of the Royal Military Academy, Department of Mathematics, is proud to be among the first organizations in Belgium to receive the Microsoft HoloLens 2. This device opens up new possibilities to work and interact in Mixed Reality, blending virtual objects to the real world.
We are researching ways of using these immersive technologies to increase soldiers' situational awareness during operations with 3D markers and annotations. Another typical use case for Belgian Defence is remote maintenance assistance, where an expert can create contextual annotations in the wearer's vision and give real-time instructions from afar, respecting social distancing in the extreme.
